Long-Term Insiders

Intro

The era of limited information is long gone. Today, we live in an age of overwhelming information booms, which has brought about a new challenge — the difficulty of finding and focusing on the right data. This study is a result of the questions we constantly ask ourselves: What data truly matters? Where should we look

In this study, we explore a particularly interesting group we've referenced in other parts of the SIT platform — Long-Term Insiders. These are individuals who have either executed at least 10 insider transactions within the past three years or reached a cumulative turnover of $1M USD. Their sustained activity may signal stronger conviction and deeper insight into the companies they're involved with.

Data for this dynamic report is updated on a weekly basis.

We will compare long-term insiders with all other insiders to uncover distinctive behaviors and strategies. The following metrics were calculated to highlight key patterns and preferences commonly observed among long-term insiders.

Average Transaction Amount

The following three charts illustrate the average, minimum, and maximum transaction amounts for long-term and ordinary insiders. In each case, the differences are highly disproportionate, highlighting the distinct behavior of long-term insiders.

Minimum Transaction Size (Average)

Maximum Transaction Size (Average)

Number of Companies

The following chart illustrates the number of companies each group of insiders is involved in. As you can see, long-term insiders tend to be more active and diversified in their investments.

Insider Activity Duration, years

This chart shows that long-term insiders maintain insider trading activity for nearly three times longer than ordinary insiders, based on the time span between their first and last recorded transactions.

Percentage of Long-term vs. Ordinary Insiders

On this donut chart, we can see that the quantity of 'long-term' insiders closely follows the Pareto principle (80/20 rule). This means that when we talk about long-term insiders, we're referring to an extremely important minority that likely drives a disproportionate share of insider trading activity.

One of the main goals of this study was to identify which group of insiders truly deserves more attention. While we recognize that in a world full of rapid changes there are other influential groups—such as politicians, media figures, and influencers—long-term insiders stand out for their consistent and strategic involvement in the market.
